Log Analysis

For a lot of the hands on technical training at the club meetings, we will use Kali Linux.  If you do not have a copy, you can download a VM of it here (Click on the name of the file, not the torrent) : https://www.offensive-security.com/kali-linux-vm-vmware-virtualbox-image-download/

Once it is downloaded, you will need to extract it using 7z.

Opportunities to Learn!

  1. CyberComp AACC site – use this site to build your skills!  If you have questions on a challenge, email Professor Leary (csleary@aacc.edu) for a hint or help!
  2. National Cyber League – the Fall competition has ended.  If you aren’t signed up, please check back with Professor Leary in January to sign up for the Spring 2019 season.  More information is available here:   https://www.nationalcyberleague.org/
  3. Visit the Nest and sign up for the Cyber Defense Club.  Attend meetings!  Make friends!  https://nest.aacc.edu/

  3. SANS CyberStart – more information here:  https://www.sans.org/cyberstart  There is a class and challenges that can be solved.  Email Professor Leary for a FREE code to sign up.

Feel free to join us Tuesdays from 1 to 3ish in CALT 223.  Students meet with Professor Leary to work on challenges and solve puzzles.  All students are welcome (new and experienced).
